Day 24 – “Alexa, read my RNIB Letter from Santa”

RNIB teams up with Amazon Alexa to help Santa reach more through voice technology

It’s nearly Christmas, but if you haven’t heard Santa’s letter yet, we’ve found a new way to make it accessible. For the first time, more UK children than ever before can receive a message from Father Christmas thanks to Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa. Customers just need to say, ‘Alexa, read my RNIB Letter from Santa’ to hear the message in Santa’s voice.

Last year, the elves at RNIB sent 1,465 letters from Santa to blind and partially sighted children living across the UK, helping them experience the same magic as sighted children. We hope that thanks to the new collaboration between RNIB and Alexa, a further 14,500 young children with a vision impairment could benefit.

We hope you’ve enjoyed our Christmas messages this year and learning more about our stars – like Keira – and the fun that an accessible Christmas can provide.

Merry Christmas!
