Day 19 – Every Christmas is special but it’s business as usual for our Helpline

If you need someone who understands sight loss, call our Helpline on 0303 123 9999.

RNIB Helpline is always on hand to give people the support they need and, while Christmas time is special, it’s business as usual for the Helpline team. Fortunately, the team still gets a chance to celebrate together, as Zoe, Senior Helpline Manager, explains below – with a Christmas breakfast and raffle – but don’t hesitate to call if you need them.

What changes?

Nothing, we are continually here to support our customers, our opening times change, but the rest is business as usual.

What stays the same?

Everything.

What does the team do to celebrate the festive season together?

We have individual team meals, we have a Christmas raffle in the Helpline, we usually have a Christmas breakfast where everyone brings in something.

What is the most Christmassy call the team has received?

We had to chase a letter from Santa for a teacher in a school, one in braille, one in large print and one in audio, two out of the three had turned up, and the customer jiggled her bells down the telephone.

What do you (personally) look forward to most at Christmas?

Spending time with my family, and Christmas dinner I absolutely love.
